Ecommerce

The ecommerce is another channel to be integrated with Wapping, which presents diffrent challenges than the physical POS (Point of Sale).

Integrated vs Other ecommerce

When discussing eCommerce integration with Wapping, it is important to distinguish between two categories: Integrated eCommerce and Other eCommerce.

Integrated eCommerce refers to platforms for which Wapping provides native or pre-built integration. These include widely used solutions such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, PrestaShop, VTEX, and Adobe Commerce (Magento).

For businesses using these platforms, the integration process is streamlined because Wapping already offers connectors and APIs that facilitate synchronization of data, user accounts, benefits, and loyalty programs. This means faster onboarding, reduced development effort, and lower technical complexity.

On the other hand, Other eCommerce refers to platforms or custom-built solutions where Wapping does not provide a ready-made integration. In these cases, the integration must be developed from scratch, following a process similar to connecting a Point of Sale (POS) system.
This typically involves implementing Wapping’s APIs, configuring authentication and data exchange, and ensuring that the wallet and benefits program can interact seamlessly with the eCommerce environment. Businesses opting for this route should anticipate additional development time and resources to achieve full compatibility.

By clearly identifying which category your eCommerce falls into, you can better plan the integration strategy, timeline, and technical requirements.

Parts involved

The Checkout process is the core element of Wapping’s integration and is handled through the Checkout API. For eCommerce platforms with native integration (such as Salesforce, Shopify, PrestaShop, VTEX, and Adobe Commerce), this step is already implemented by Wapping, making the process seamless.

Another key component is the Customer Wallet, which allows customers to access their wallet directly on the website without relying on external channels like WhatsApp or a mobile app.

Wallet integration can be achieved in two ways:

  • Iframe Integration: This provides an almost plug-and-play experience, as Wapping delivers all wallet functionalities out of the box. The wallet is fully personalized for the business to ensure a seamless experience. Learn more about wallet personalization here.
  • Full API Integration: This option offers complete flexibility to customize how wallet details are presented on the website. However, the integrator is responsible for implementing all existing and future functionalities.

🚧

We strongly recommend that the integration is done by iframe, as the integration via API is in itself a very challenging project, as it requires to develop, mantain and evolve all the functionalities that Wapping supplies by default in the Customer Wallet.

Lastly the user flows and program information have to be provided by the ecommerce so the user experience is the best when interacting and learning about the program.
